Dutch: translations
Dutch is also known as Flemish. It is part of the group of Germanic (West Germanic) languages that make up part of the Indo-European language family. It is spoken by almost 22 million people. We can easily communicate in Dutch in the Netherlands and Belgium, where it has the status of an official language. It can also be used for communication in Suriname, Aruba and the Antilles, which until the end of 2010 were called the Netherlands Antilles – 5 islands in the Caribbean Sea that are a Dutch autonomous territory.
History of the Dutch language
The Dutch language began to develop in the Middle Ages.
The first texts written in this language come from the 11th century. This language was created by separating from the dialects of Low Germanic, which in turn came from Old Saxon.
Using Dutch in business
The Dutch language will be useful for companies planning to expand their business in the Benelux countries. As its usability outside this area is limited to a few small territories, knowledge of the language does not have a major impact on the quality of business results.
