Who speaks Mongolian?
More than 7 million people use Mongolian worldwide.
It belongs to the group of Mongolian languages that make up part of the Altaic language family. This group, with the exception of Mongolian, includes the so-called peripheral Mongolian languages, which are used by only a few hundred thousand people. Mongolian can be divided into the following dialects: Khorchin-Tumet, Khorchin, Chakhar, Ordos, Adzmachin, Oirat. Speakers of the Mongolian language can be found mainly in Mongolia. They also live in China and in the Siberian part of Russia.
History of the Mongolian language
The earliest extant Mongolian text is the Stele of Yisangge.
It is a type of description of sports written on stone in Mongolian in 1224 or 1225. An important monument of the Mongolian language is the Mongol-Armenian list of 55 words created in the 13th century by Kirakos Ganjakets. From the 13th to the 15th centuries, Mongolian texts were written in four different alphabets. It is unclear when the Mongolian alphabet was developed and when the interregional classical version of the Mongolian language began to be used. Before the period of Genghis Khan’s conquests, we speak of the period of the old Mongolian language. From the beginning of the 12th and 13th centuries to the end of the 15th and 16th centuries we speak of the Middle Mongolian period. As a result of Genghis Khan’s conquests, numerous Mongol dialects were scattered over vast areas from Manchuria to Eastern Europe. Over time, these evolved into the modern languages of the Mongolian family, which now encompass more than 10 different languages and dialects. By the seventeenth century, the modern Mongolian language was formed. It includes visible differences compared to other Mongolian languages. After the Second World War, the Khalkha dialect became the basis of literary Mongolian.
Use of Mongolian in business
Although the Mongolian language does not play a significant role on the international stage, its use may be absolutely necessary for conducting business in Mongolia.
Therefore, operating in this market, it is extremely important to take care of professional translations of all corporate materials into Mongolian, while in the case of importing goods or raw materials into the Bulgarian market, it is worthwhile to carry out a professional translation from Mongolian into Bulgarian. It will definitely contribute to success in the demanding international market.
