Serbian: translations
Who speaks Serbian?
Serbian belongs to the group of South Slavic languages.
It is used by about 8 million people. Its users can be found mainly in Serbia, but also in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Albania.
History of the Serbian language
In the territory of medieval Serbia, an edition of Old Bulgarian is used. It has been argued that users of Serbian and Croatian do not experience difficulties in communication due to the similarities between these languages, given their common historical past. Vuk Karadžić, who abandoned traditional Old Slavonic and based the language on one of the dialects, contributed greatly to the creation of the Serbian language in its present form. In 1791, the first secondary school in Serbian was established. In 1850, within the idea of the unity of the Slavs, the so-called Vienna Literary Agreement was signed by writers from Croatia, Serbia and one from Slovenia. This was the beginning of the development of a language that acquired the name Serbo-Croatian in the 20th century.
Use of Serbian in business
Serbian plays a business role only in business cooperation with Serbia, which is not a popular business destination. In the international arena, its knowledge will not be very useful in business activities.
