Albanian language : translations
Who speaks Albanian?
Albanian is an Indo-European language, but it forms its own branch within the Indo-European language family.
It is spoken by about 6 million people inhabiting the western part of the Balkan Peninsula, as well as by a few people in Calabria in southern Italy. The two major Albanian dialects are Ghegi and Tosk.
Albanian is the official language of Albania and Kosovo, and a co-official language in North Macedonia.
History of the Albanian language
Latin has a significant influence on the Albanian vocabulary. The first written record of the Albanian language is the baptismal formula written in 1462. Interestingly, until 1908 the Cyrillic alphabet and even the Arabic alphabet were used to write in Albanian.
After that year their place was taken by the Latin alphabet. The modern form of the Albanian language has remained unchanged since the 19th century. Use of the Albanian language in business. Given the relatively unstable social and economic situation in the regions that use Albanian, its use by Bulgarian businesses may be negligible. Therefore, knowledge of it will only be useful to those companies that have business relations with Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
