Who speaks Korean?
Worldwide, the number of Korean speakers can be estimated at around 77 million. Korean is an isolated language and does not belong to any language family. The majority of Korean language users live on the Korean peninsula. Korean is also used by residents of Yanbian, an autonomous prefecture in eastern Jilin Province, China, in the republics of the former Soviet Union, the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Japan.
History of the Korean language
Korean is descended from the Middle Korean language, which itself is a descendant of Old Korean, based on the language used in prehistoric Korea. The origins of this latter language are still disputed, but its roots are sought in the Manchuria region, a land located in northern China. Chinese characters appeared in Korea around the 1st century B.C. The alphabet was adapted to the Korean language, and became known as hanja and was used to write Korean for over a thousand years. Currently, hanja is no longer used in daily life because of the inconvenience it creates. However, it is still important in historical and linguistic studies. Neither South Korea nor North Korea object to the teaching of Hanja, although it is no longer an officially used language in North Korea, and its use in South Korea is reserved for special circumstances. Most words commonly used in Korean are of Korean origin, but more than 50% of the total vocabulary has sources in the Korean way of reading Chinese characters. Korean is an SOV (Subject Object Verb) language type, using a sentence type in which the subject occurs before the object and the verb occurs at the end.
Using Korean in business
Although the Korean language does not play a significant role on the international stage, Korean products from the automotive and electronics industries are well known.

Therefore, working in this market, it is extremely important to take care of professional translations of all corporate materials into Korean, while in the case of importing goods or raw materials from the Korean market, it is worthwhile to carry out a professional translation from Korean into Bulgarian.
