Bulgarian language: translations
Who speaks Bulgarian?
Bulgarian belongs to the group of South Slavic languages (the Balkan group), forming part of the Indo-European language family. It is spoken by almost 12 million people.
A slightly modified Cyrillic alphabet is used to write Bulgarian. Speaking it, we can communicate in the Balkans, in Turkey, Hungary, Moldova, some parts of Greece, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and, of course, in Bulgaria.
History of the Bulgarian language
Bulgarian is derived from the original language of the Slavs who arrived on the Balkan Peninsula around the 6th century AD. The modern Bulgarian language includes traces of the speech of the Proto-Bulgarians from the time when the Balkan Slavs merged with the Proto-Bulgarians, creating together one state. The greatest changes in the Bulgarian language occurred between the 12th and 14th centuries. In the middle of the 18th century the Bulgarian language became a developed language form.
Use of the Bulgarian language in business
The Bulgarian language is used in several countries, but they do not play a significant role in the international arena.
Bulgaria, which has become known as one of the favourite holiday destinations of Germans, Russians and Poles, is also among the leading countries doing business in international markets. There are also many foreign companies with investment projects in Bulgaria. Therefore, this language has a wide application in business relations with other EU countries and beyond.
